Peeling is a treatment that removes the superficial layers of the skin to restore it. This action is carried out while stimulating the deep layers of the skin, thus activating the fibroblasts and allowing the production of elastic fibers together with collagen fibers. <\/span><\/p>\n

The depth of the affected layers is controlled by the doctor depending on the type of peeling used (according to prior indication) and the concentration of the products.<\/span><\/p>\n

The products used for the peeling treatments are fruit acids, glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid and phenol.<\/span><\/p>\n

Peelings can be divided into three categories according to their depth of action:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

– <\/span>Superficial Peeling:<\/span> It removes the last cells of the stratum corneum (glycolic acid or fruit acids). It is a lighter treatment, allowing to return radiance to the face. These treatments are done once a week three to six times in a row until the desired result is achieved.<\/span><\/p>\n

–<\/span>Average peel<\/span>: removes about half of the epidermis. This treatment corresponds to an average intensity, giving rise to more or less thick desquamations with an erythema that may persist for some time thereafter. It will be used for example to treat very fine lines, to smooth out fine scars or for the treatment of melanoma marks. This peeling may be reiterated depending on the result obtained after each session.<\/span><\/p>\n

– <\/span>Deep peel:<\/span> is composed of phenol and removes about a third of the total skin epithelium. This treatment which is of high intensity permits to remove wrinkles that are deeply installed. This is a cumbersome treatment with requires social eviction for up to three weeks with a local reaction which may include redness and minor swelling signs. <\/span><\/p>\n

The skin remains red for several months. A light-protective treatment is subsequently essential to protect the new skin in formation and in order to avoid a pigmentary rebound. This is a cumbersome treatment however the results are remarkable.<\/span><\/p>\n

The course of a session:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It is not necessary to apply an anesthetic cream prior to the session (except for the deep peel). Skin should be cleansed and degreased before the treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n

The application of the peeling is done in one or more layers during the same session, few minutes apart, according to the type of peeling used and according to the reaction of the patient\u2019s skin. A tingling sensation might be felt when applying peeling to the skin.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following the treatment:<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The skin progressively peels on the days following the treatment (rarely after a superficial peeling, almost systematically after an average peel). Those can be thin skin layers like in the case of a sunburn or real scabs according to the intensity of the peeling used. Depending on the treatment which is carried out, it may therefore be indispensable to provide for a social eviction of a few days.<\/span><\/p>\n

Afterwards, the skin may remain rosy (but it is possible to put make-up one) for some time. To prevent the risk of hyperpigmentation, it is essential to protect the treated skin with a 50+ sunscreen while the skin remains rosy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The treatment may be carried out in one or more sessions, the spacing of which depends on the indication, the skin\u2019s reaction and on the expectations of the treatment from the patient.<\/span><\/p>\n
